If you are looking for a reliable and high-performing small baitcasting reel from Shimano, the Torium is an excellent option offering outstanding versatility for a wide range of fishing techniques. The fast retrieval is perfect if you are a deep-sea fishing or jigging enthusiast, with more than enough strength to handle the largest bottom-dwellers. Alternatively, you can pair it with a lighter rod for slow pitch jigging or even casting with larger baits and sinkers. The TORIUM allows you to customize your fishing experience based on different conditions and techniques.
The Torium is Shimano's flagship mid-range star drag baitcasting reel. Its lightweight and compact construction, combined with the high gear ratio of 6.3:1 (TOR14HGA) and 6.2:1 (other sizes), enables you to use it for a variety of methods, including jigging, bottom fishing, and even casting with large baits and sinkers. When you hold the Torium, you can feel the high manufacturing quality thanks to the lightweight Hagane body. It feels solid and strong, while being very compact due to the S Compact Body design. In fact, its visual size does not reveal the power and line capacity of this perfectly shaped super high-speed baitcasting reel. With a gear ratio of 6.3:1, the smallest size (size 14) can retrieve almost 1 meter (97 cm) of line per crank (other sizes 117 cm). With large Cross Carbon Drag washers, adjusted with Star Drag, the Torium provides 7.5 kg (TOR14HGA) and 11 kg (other sizes) of drag force, making it suitable for all but the largest pelagic fish.
