Lines and leaders are the vital link between you and the fish. We at Fiskejournalen have used our long experience to select some real favorite lines. We have purchased these in large quantities, partly because we know they are good, and partly so we can get a good bulk discount and offer you as a customer a really good price. There are quite a few options for what length of line to choose. To make it a bit easier, here’s a short explanation.

  • 0-50 meters: here you’ll find tippet material, backing, and fly lines.
  • 100-200 meters: this is the average length a single fishing reel typically holds.
  • 200-300 meters: here you’ll find spools of line for two reels.
  • 300 meters and more: for when you need to fill multiple reels with line.

Buying Fishing Line

There are many different types of fishing lines adapted for various types of fishing. We have over 1000 unique fishing lines in our assortment, ensuring you always find the right line for your fishing. In addition to the line, leaders are often needed when fishing. The leader is located at the very end of the line and serves as the link between the fishing line and the lure. The leader can serve multiple functions, but its most important task is to protect the line against sharp pike teeth.

 

Braided or Nylon Line

Most fishing lines used today can be categorized as braided or nylon line. Braided line is the most common purchase and is extensively used because it is stiff and strong. This provides good direct contact with the bait and minimizes the risk of the line breaking when the dream fish strikes. Braided line is available in many different dimensions (thicknesses) and colors to suit different fishing situations. Nylon line was used more in the past and is not as popular today. However, in certain situations, nylon line is preferable over braided line. For example, when it is below freezing, nylon line is better.
