The Swede Carl August Borgström founded AB Urfabriken in Mörrum in 1921 and initially produced pocket watches and taxi meters, but in the 1940s, Abu began manufacturing sport fishing products. In 1941, the first spinning reel was introduced, and since then, Abu Garcia has produced fishing equipment in all price ranges.
